Learn some best practices to keep your chickens happy & healthy through the high temperatures through the summer in Texas. I was surprised to learn last Fall in some chicken groups/meetings locally, how many people lost multiple chickens in the summer.

• Eat Less
• Drink More
• Keep in Shade
• Forage Less
• Stop Laying eggs
Keeping the Chickens comfortable....
Give space to sleep
• Vent out Heat & Moisture
• Place Coop in Shade
• Roof some of the Run
• Face the Rising Sun
• Good Air Flow with Windows & Fans
• Keep Manure Removed from Coop
MUST ALWAYS HAVE CLEAN, FRESH, COOL WATER
-add electrolytes
-NO apple cider vinegar in the summer months

• Melons
• Berries (freeze)
• Leafy Greens
Signs of Overheating....
• Gasping
• Labored Panting
• Not Moving
• Lethargic
• Staggering
• Constant wing spreading
