Rats and a Cat

Just a short video of my rats running around on my bed and my cat Squirt not quite sure what to do with himself.
I didn't do any special training with Squirt to get him to tolerate the ratties so well. Its actually a little surprising as he has always loved to play with and destroy those fake toy mice. Of my three cats though, Squirt here is the only one I would actually trust to be in such close proximity with my ratties. Cats can be smart though. My family has a cat who would bring home rats and birds from outside but who knew better than to bother the pet rats that lived inside, even when they figured out how to get out of their cage and would wander around the house unsupervised looking for someone to play with ;-)
What you might not get from watching this video is that Squirt's main interest was actually in eating the rat food. :-) He was just trying to get to the rat food without any of the weird, quick moving fuzzing things getting to close to him.
I now have a rat named Migi who can't be trusted to get near my cats. She bit my kitten on the nose a few weeks ago and even drew blood. (No worried... The kitten was barely phased and it was a pretty minor wound and healed quickly) I couldn't be upset with Migi though because you can't blame a rat for trying to protect herself from a cat ;-)
For anyone else out there with rats and cats, or who may be thinking about combining rats and cats in your house, just be VERY VERY careful if you want to try introducing them and NEVER leave them unsupervised together!
